Child Speech and Language Therapy

I work with children who have communication difficulties. These difficulties include:

• Language delay/disorder
• DLD (developmental language delay
• Speech delay/disorder
• Voice disorder
• Social communication difficulties
• Communication difficulties associated with Autistic Spectrum Disorder
• Processing of language and auditory memory
• Children with chromosomal disorders e.g. Down Syndrome, fragile X and others which have an affect on speech and language development

• Holistic assessment of your child’s communication needs
• Advice on your child’s communication development and training for you: next steps and longer term objectives
• Individualised therapy for your child’s speech and language difficulties
• Provide programmes for individuals that can also be used as nursery/school targets

About Me

I'm Heather Williams, a Speech and Language Therapist in the Leicester area. Since qualifying in 1992 as a Speech and Language Therapist I have specialised in working with children's communication difficulties.  I have worked at home and abroad, setting up services, managing, training and also providing Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Services. I have worked independently for 11 years as well as working full time in the NHS. I work with children and young people from 0-17 years with a variety of difficulties. I have worked in nurseries, mainstream and special schools, the children’s home environment, clinics and child development centres as part of a multidisciplinary team.

I am a registered member of:

• The Health Professions Council
• The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
• The Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice
